-Effective content writing is one of the most critical aspects of web design

  • Try to avoid redundant content
  • Don't waste space welcoming users to the site
  • Always use consistent capitalization and styles; avoid using all caps because this makes it difficult to read
  • Use non-breaking spaces between words in phrases that need to go together for easier legibility and understanding

  • -Your navigation area should reveal the most important content of the site so that the user gets a good idea of the site's content

  • Don't provide multiple navigation areas for the same type of link, but try to group similar items together in links
  • Don't provide an active link to the homepage
  • Differentiate between links, and allow the link colors to show visited and unvisited sites
  • Don't use generic instructions as a link name, or generic links at the end of your list
  • Include an "About Us" link with an overview of the company and relevant details; don't include internal company info.
  • Any input boxes should be wide enough for users to see and edit standard queries on the site

  • -Give the appropriate emphasis to both the branding and high-priority tasks

  • Show the company name and logo in a reasonable size and a noticeable location

  • Avoid using watermark graphics

  • Don't use animation just to draw attention to a specific area

  • Emphasize high-priority tasks to provide the user with a clear starting point

  • Feel free to use use graphics to show real content, but avoid using them just as decoration

  • Label any graphics that do not have a clear meaning (based on the context)

  • -Limit your font styles and formatting to avoid detracting from the meaning

  • Make the text as legible as possible

  • Make sure the text is in high-contrast to the background colors

  • Use logos sparingly

  • Use drop-down menus sparingly

  • General Guidelines
  • The main, critical role of a homepage is to communicate what the site or company is, what value the site offers over competition and the physical world, and what products or services are offered.

  • Try to design a homepage that allows access to all important features without cramming it all on the page itself.

  • Begin the window title with an info-carrying word (company name) and include a short description (7-8 words, less than 64 characters)
